Yorkshire Gardens

Spring seems to be a bit late in my garden this year. Perhaps I’ve got my rose-tinted glasses on but I’m pretty sure I usually have a load more bulbs in flower by now. My tulips are looking a bit anaemic at the moment and though there’s lots of green stems there aren’t many heads. Anyway while the bulbs may still be dormant here’s what’s going on in my garden.

Banish the winter blues and visit a garden for a bit of horticultural inspiration and perhaps even a cup of tea and a bun.

Our wonderful Yorkshire has its fair share of award winning gardens that provide the therapy of being outdoors and enjoying nature in all its glory.

Here are some of my want-to-visit gardens this summer…I better get moving, and get out and about then! And  I promise to share them with you.

Scampston Walled garden, 5 miles from Malton

Thorp Perrow Arboretum, near Bedale

Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park, 6 miles from Ripon and Masham

Harewood House and Gardens

Ripley Castle and gardens

Stillingfleet Lodge gardens – I love this summer garden which is only a few villages away from me.

RHS Harlow Carr Garden , in Harrogate – worth my annual membership, and I can take a friend for free!!

And most importantly, don’t forget to grab a cuppa and sit in the afternoon sun in your garden looking ahead to the warmer weather. Bliss.
