Harrogate Spring Flower Show

I braved the drop in temperature recently to go to the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, staged at the Great Yorkshire Showground, bringing the green fingered from far and wide. I didn’t know they were building a new Hall, but most of the plants were moved into a marquee, with good lighting, and hopefully good photos.

Despite the cold wind and freezing weather, I had a wonderful day with my gardening partner in crime.

The displays were quite breath-taking from the bulbs Fritillaria and Cypripedium on Jacques Amand’s stand, to Taylor’s Clematis, Dibley’s Streptocarpus and so many more.

Some plants were definite must-haves for my little patio garden, and I felt a white theme coming together.

Chatting to a man on a stall, as you do, he suggested sprinkling slug pellets under a tile or slate on the ground, to tempt those greedy slugs away from the tender hostas and delphiniums. And therefore not tempting to birds or cats.

I couldn’t resist buying a bit of ‘metal’ for the garden, so this fellow came home to perch in my garden.

And then, a purchase was made of this Adirondack chair, there are times when you know it’s the right time to buy!!

So, now I am looking forward to sunny days, with a book, and a cuppa…perfect summer dreams!
